"7* <br />MEMO <br />Date: January 7,2002 <br />To: Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br />From: Officer Jeff Johnson Fleet Coordinator, Police Department <br />Re: Purchase of a 2001 Ford Expedition Sport Utility Vehicle <br />Sir, <br />1 would like to take the time to explain the difference in pricing on the council <br />action of December 14,2001 of $28,800.00 for the Ford Expedition to what the <br />current cost will be which is $30,725.00. Unfortunately there is not a current state <br />bid for this vehicle and I do not expect one for some time due to the delay in the <br />production line of the 2003 Expeditions per Superior Ford. <br />Originally when permission was being requested from council to notify Morrie's <br />Ford of our intent to purchase this vehicle, 1 had located a 2002 Ford Expedition in <br />far southern Mn. In the time it took to request council approval the vehicle had <br />unfortunately been sold. These vehicles with the package we are in need of are <br />difficult to locate. <br />1 have located another vehicle which is a 2001 at a cost of $30,700.00. This <br />vehicle will meet our needs and is being held at Morrie’s Ford currently. We are <br />fortunate to have located this vehicle as there are veiy few that meet the criteria we <br />are looking for such as, a towing package for the smart trailer, a payload package <br />to accommodate the heavy scales for weighing trucks, as well as medical
