City of Orono Improvements for Parks, Open Space and Trails <br />Date: April 1.2030 <br />revised: March 2002 <br />Facility Name: Roberta Lee Antoine Park <br />Type of Facility: Mini-Park <br />Improvements <br />General Recommendation: <br />Antoine consists of a modem play facility and little else. The rest of the park has no <br />apparent purpose, or facilities. It is not conducive even for a stroll. The topography <br />and lack of detail make the park look like an unused building lot. <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />4. <br />5. <br />6. <br />7. <br />8. <br />9. <br />10. <br />Develop a master plan walking paths and landscaping to create a park feel, <br />rather than an empty, unused space. <br />Construct a gazebo/picnic shelter to take advantage of the lake views and <br />construct accessible (handicap) paths from parking area to the playground and <br />to the picnic shelter. <br />Replace gravel under play equipment with a recycled rubber cushioned surface <br />or treated wood chips to provide access for persons with disabilities to all play <br />equipment. <br />Install posts and a net for volleyball. <br />Install an ornamental fence to define the entire park <br />Install security light. <br />Landscape park especially area around sign. <br />Construct a Va court basketball court <br />Replace play equipment, installed in 1997, in 2018 <br />Erect an interpretive plaque to recognize.
