Request for Council Action continued <br />September S, 2003 <br />Page 2 <br />2.The Preface beginning on page vii is a summary of the history of codification, the materials <br />used, and organization of the Code. <br />3.The Table of Contents beginning on page xiii outlines each section and chapter within the <br />Code. <br />4.The body of the Code is divided by tabs identifying each major subject (purple) and chapter <br />(cream). At the beginning of each chrqrter is the section analysis which lists the articles, <br />divisions and sections which make up the chapter. <br />5.The Code Comparative Table found at the end of the Code gives the location within the new <br />Code of those sections of the 1984 Code which may be used for reference. <br />6.The State Law Reference Table, also at the end of the Code, shows the location within the <br />new Code of references to the Minnesota Statutes. <br />7.The Code Index, which i:r the iast section of the Code book, provides a valuable lookup tool <br />to use when researching various topics. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff recommends adopting the attached ordinance enacting a new Code for the City of Orono, <br />Minnesota, providing for the repeal of certain ordinances not included therein; providing a penal ty for <br />the violation thereof; providing for the manner of amending such code; and providing when such code <br />and the ordinance shall become effective. <br />rof incIL ACTION REOUFSTrn; <br />Motion to adopt the attached ordinance enacting a new Code for the City of Orono, Minnesota, <br />providing for the repeal of certain ordinances not included therein; providing a penalty for the violation <br />thereof; providing for the matmer of amending such Code; and providing when such Code and the <br />ordinance shall become effective.
