CityofOnmo
Plmniog Commission May 13,2003 Page 4
The DNR has resurveyed our path and determined that it is 12 feet wide and is above the
high-watermark. We will follow the recommendations of the Hennepin County Conservation
District with respect to managing manure and run-ofT. Finally, the electric fence which we
propose udU be difficult to see even 100 feet away, let alone fiom any neighbor ’s property.
In conclusion, this is a clear case of hardship, historic and not self-created. The
variance and CUP are necessary to permit any use of tl« approxinoately 2 acre knoll, which
represents ^iproximately 20% of our dry land. In the absence of the trail, that dry land is
inaccessible, and we are deprived of its use. If we are required to move and subdivide the
propcity, a proud tradition and way of life which has historically blessed Orono will continue
on a path of elimination. This is to respectfully request that you permit the continuation of
this use and grant us the dispensation necessary to enjoy our property and our horses.
Respectfully submitted.
Robert J.
