<br />2. General Fund Esnenditurcs
<br />The General Fund operating expenditures at year end are $4,552,576, compared to the budget
<br />of $4,607,470, which is $54,t: under budget, or 1.2%. The adopted budget of $4,607,470
<br />was increased by Council approved amendments during 2002, totaling $37,695. It is not
<br />necessary to increase the total budget, however, there are several departments which require
<br />amendments to their expenditure budgets.
<br />The following is a listing of those departments which require budget amendments due to
<br />expenditures exceeding budgeted amounts, and those departments with expenditures
<br />signiflcantly below budgeted amounts. (Please note that only the departments w;th
<br />budget amendments are listed, and those items only add up to the total indicated at the
<br />bottom of the Amendment column).

<br />A brief explanation of the significant overages follows:
<br />Fire Protection The amendment is to fimd higher than anticipated fire service
<br />contract costs, in particular with the City of Maple Plain.
<br />Engineering The amendment is to fund the sub area transportation study, and the
<br />Rest Point Road paving.
