Pasf PTO President <br />Kathi runhcim>> recent gift to the Orono Alliance for Education was aciually <br />four years in the making! <br />Kaihi Tunheim and her family moved lo Orono in 1997. One year later, she got <br />involved with the PTO because she had one eleineniar>-aged child and two more <br />that would be entering Orono in a few years. In 2000, she co-chaired a very <br />successful Tun Fest and enjoyed meeting people, getting involved and raising <br />money directly to support the schools. <br />\ * i <br />After encouragement from JoyAnn Buss, a former Alliance board member, and <br />Fllcn Phelps, Elcmcntar)' PTO President at the time, Kathi took on the leadership <br />role of President in 2001-2002. She quickly began to sec how the PTO could <br />heighten its impact by working more closely with the middle school and high school associations and sup ­ <br />porting the efforts of the Alliance. <br />As a professional organizational development consultant. Kathi sees the biggei picture and how eac h of us <br />contributes to the whole. She realized that by working more closely with the Allianc.^, tbc P1 0 could double <br />its impact.
