Vegetation i-rmoval and tree cutting within 75’ of the OHWL of Lake <br />Minnetonka and within a wetland requires an inspection by City Staff and a tree removal <br />permit issued by the City Inspector. The soil disturbance caused by the tree removal <br />activity may also require review* and approval from the Mirmehaha Creek Watershed <br />Disuict (MCWD) <br />Removal of individual trees of 6" diameter and intensive vegetation clearing writhin 75’ <br />of a lake or on a slope greater than 30% is strictly prohibited withcul pnor City approval. <br />Orono Cii>‘ Code 7S12SS states: <br />(aj A'o live tree v^uhin 75 feet of the shoreline or wtlun the bluff impact zone v^ith a <br />diameter of 6 inches or more (or 19 inches in citcum/erence or greater} measured 3 <br />feet above the ground may be removed VKithout first obtaining a permit from the City <br />provided that at least the equnalent number of replacement trees of a size and nature <br />found acceptable to the staff are planted at the same setback from the shoreline as <br />those remo\ed <br />(b) Intensive vegetc'.on clearing uithin 75 feet of the shoreline on steep slopes orvuthm <br />the bluff impact zone wuhtn the Sf-oreland Overlay District is prohibited Limited <br />clearing of shrubs and uea less than 6 inches in diameter and cutting, pruning and <br />trimming of t'-ers of any size is aVov^ed to provide a view tc the Mater from the <br />principal dwelling site and to accommodate the placement of permitted stairways and <br />landings, picnic areas, access paths, beach and watercraft access areas, and <br />permitted lockboxes, provided that the screening of structures, vehicles or other <br />facilities as viewed from the water, assuming summer, leaf on conditions, is not <br />substantially reduced <br />-raeplMNlc (9S2) 249-4600 • Fai (952) 249-4616 <br />wiTM'xi.oroiMUBa.iu
