MN 55356 <br />Re Request for Variance at 2618 Casco Point Road <br />Dear Ms Curtis. <br />After speaking with you and the City Adminisuator today I feel it necessary to prepare <br />this letter and have it included m the public record of the Planning Comnussion meeting <br />of 10/18/2004 <br />The owner of 2618 Casco Point Road. Mr Eric Vogstrom has applied for a hard cover <br />and side yard set back vanance 1 have expressed the following concerns to him and you <br />> Drainage between his proposed home and my home <br />> Trimming of trees to enhance his view <br />> Protection of established trees <br />> Oflf street parking <br />Mr Vogstrom and I discussed these issues and he agreed to install gutter, downspouts <br />buried drain tile and a swale between the properties to conir d drainage He also agreed to <br />work with me on tree trimming to enhance his view, and to protect existing trees <br />Last week Mr Vogstrom hired a tree service, which in addition to illegally cutting trees <br />on his own property and neighboring public property, came onto my property and cut <br />down mature trees that impacted his view without a permit or my permission These trees <br />were cut down even after I pointed out to Mr Vogstrom and his tree service exactly <br />where the property line was located (survey slakes were dearly visible) <br />Ai$ a result of his actions 1 do not believ e he w ill voluntarily honor any of his previous <br />commitments regarding drainage or tree preservation and 1 am strongly against granting <br />the requested variances. <br />Additionally I request the City Engineer make note of these concerns during his review of <br />the Vogstrom site plan and drainage plan as part of the construction draw ing review <br />process to protect neighboring property owners. <br />Sincerclyr^ <br />------------------- <br />2648 Casco Point Road <br />Orono hfN 55391
