A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING <br />VOLUNTEER PROGRAM COORDINATOR <br />STEPHANIE GRANDE <br />RESOLUTION NO. 5245 <br />WHEREAS, on July 14, 2003, the Orono Police Department appointed <br />Stephanie Grande to the position of Police Department Volunteer Services <br />Coordinator, (a volunteer position with no salary and no paid benefits) and; <br />WHEREAS, Stephanie serves the Police Department by creating and <br />maintaining a professional web site, assists in the coordination of the Police <br />Reserve program, redrafted the entire policy manual, and consults with staff on <br />numerous tccimology projects, and <br />WHEREAS, Stephanie designed and implemented the first ever Orono <br />Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy which successfully brought citizens <br />of the community together with members of the Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the participants in the Citizens Police Academy, who <br />graduated on October 27, 2004, have given the program outstanding reviews, and <br />have expressed gratitude for their increased awareness of issues that directly <br />affect the safety and well-being of themselves and their families, and a better <br />understanding of underlying issues and risks associated with law enforcement that <br />shape the way officers perform their duties. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, by the Orono City Council, that <br />Stephanie Grande is hereby recognized for her generous sharing of time, expertise <br />and heart in all cf her contributions to the Orono Police Department, and <br />particularly her outstanding efforts in designing and implementing the first ever <br />Orono Police Department Citizens Police Academy. <br />Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting <br />held this 8*'* day of November, 2004. <br />ATTEST: <br />Linda S.
