Council deliberation <br />City Review <br />The City ’s authority and concern in its review of the liquor license application is the protection <br />of the public health, safety and welfare. The City ’s review of the application has addressed this <br />concern in two ways. One is through a background investigation of the iq)plicant for the liquor <br />license. The second is through a review of the impacts on the area properties of granting the on- <br />sale liquor license. <br />The Police Department has conducted a background investigation of the applicant. Based on the <br />results of the investigation, the Police Department is recommending denial of the liquor licoise. <br />A memo from the Police Chief regarding the recommendation is attached. <br />The key issue in the review of the impacts on the area properties of granting the on-sale liquor <br />license is the proximity to, and orientation of the entrance and parking toward, the adjacent low- <br />density residential development.
