Gappa <br />TMc Director of Public Services <br />Administrator Reviewed: <br />Item Description: Accept Quotations Lift B-Nation 18, <br />Agenda Section: <br />Public Services Director's Report <br />Cherry Place Emergency Generator <br />This lift station was installed in 1973 as part of the Saga Hill sewer project and serves the eastern <br />side of Forest Lake. This is a major lift station that handles flow from three upstream lift stations and <br />also has very limited eirergency response time in the event of a lift station malfunction because of <br />several low basement elevations in relation to the lift station. In the event of power outages the City <br />currently has to bring in oortable generators to operate lift stations which is not adequate for this <br />station because of the high flows and limited emergency responr' time available. This 60 KW <br />natural gas generator will be equipped with an automatic emergency start up system, battery charger, <br />cold weather etKiosure, and electric jacket water heater to facilitate winter startups. <br />We have solicited quotations for this emergency generator purchase and installation and are <br />recommending acceptance of the quotations from Ziegler Power Systems and Electric Resource <br />Contractors. This generator is stock at the company ’s Shakopee faculty and is available for <br />immediate delivery. The other two companies that we received quotations from require a 12 to 14 <br />week time period for ordering and delivering the generator. There is an adequate cash balance in the <br />Sewer Fund to pay for this project, and r ar recommendation is to fund this project from the Sewer <br />Fund. <br />COUNat ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept the quotation in the amount $22,950.08 from Ziegler Power Systems Shakopee, <br />Minnesota for the Lift Station # 1 8, Cherry Place emergency generator with funding from the Sewer <br />Fund and approval of the appropriate year 2005 budget adjustment to reflect this e.\penditure. <br />Motion to accept the quotation in the amount $5,250.00 from Electric Resource Contractors <br />Minneapolis, Minnesota for completion of the electrical connection work for the Lift Station ^18, <br />Cherry Place emergency generator wi ,'i funding from the Sewer Fund and approval of the <br />appropriate year 2005 budget adjustment to reflect this expenditure.
