i: <br />w <br />MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Mmiday, Novcuriicr 14« 2005 <br />7:00 o'clock pjB. <br />(005^142 Ckapmaa, Cootiooed) <br />Miuphy stated his main concern dealt with the sight lines across the street <br />Chapman slated he has spoken with that nei^bor and that the neighbor is fine with the proposal. <br />Murphy commented the lot is unique and that he is not opposed to the second recommendation of Staff of <br />a 10’ by lO’shed if the shed resembles the house. <br />Muiphy noted the lot to tfie west has a dock on it with a jet boat parked next to it. <br />Chapman stated there is a 30*foot driveway going down to the lake and there is an easement down to the <br />water. Chapman indicated he did offer to buy the City’s land in order to increase his acreage but was told <br />that the City would not be interested in selling the corridor. <br />Gaffron confirmed that the City is not interested in selling the 30-foot corridor and that an outlot was <br />created to the west as part of a subdivision a number of years ago. <br />Sanacvarc meved to direct Staff to draft a rssakitlon approving the constmctlon of a 10’ by 12* foot <br />dbad, sabject to the removal of the sidewalk and the placement of steppingstones, consbtent wHh <br />recommendation nnmber two ontUned in Staff’s report <br />Chapman inquired if steppingstones are used, would he then be permitted a 12’ by 12’ shed, <br />Gundlach stated if steppingstones are used in place of die concrete sidewalk, there would be a net <br />decrease in hardcover of 3.5 square feet if a 12’ by 12’ shed is constructed. <br />hla motion to direct staff to draft a resointion approving the construction of a <br />12* hy 12’ shed, sabject to the removal of the sidewalk and the placemeiff of steppingstones, <br />consistent with recommendatloa nnmber two ontUned In Staff’s report <br />Gundlach indicated the majority of the Planning Commission did not vote in favor of the shed but that the <br />dissenting commissioner M suggested a 10’ by 10’ shed widi the removal of the sidewalk and placement <br />of steppingstones. <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 1, Peterson Opposed. <br />Peterson stated ^ has a problem with trading nonstructural coverage for structural hardcover. <br />Page 7 <br />! <br />= <br />I <br />!i <br />I <br />i ; <br />< 4 <br />1^ <br />; i
