monuments are now formally regulated by ordinance and that the monuments themselves can be
eight feet in height, allowing the gates existing between the monuments to approach a height greater
than 42” may be reasonable.
NAMEPl^TE SIGNAGE
Staff also is somewhat concerned with the signage proposed on the gates being: “Living Waters Est.
2004”. The sign ordinance permits a nameplate of two square feet with a nameplate defined as “any
sign which states the name or address or both of the business or occupant of the lot where the sign is
placed or may be a directory listing the names, addresses and business of occupants.” The applicant
has stated the signage is to mark the name of the estate. This technically isn’t permitted per the sign
code and staff would like clarification from the Council of whether estate names are acceptable. A
review of the gates existing in the community yielded existence of few, if any, gates with signage of
anything other than an address or resident luune. The signage proposed complies with the two
square fi>ot limitation.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED
Direct staff on die acceptable gate hei^t and signage content This may include a specific
interpretation of die ordinance and/or include a revision to the ordinance for future clarification.
1 W ^ *
f ' *
. • T , • •
. . , ‘ ■ f
A.
‘'lit*. -
f ' t
5*;Ff'''
'^Vac
m
l;:*.’ v\
j-si '
M
::K - .' v '-
••
I ._____ - -------------------------11 I ----- - .
