MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, August 22,2005 <br />7:00 o’clock p.m. <br />(th APPEAL OF ENFORCEMENT ACTION - 2990 CASCO POINT ROAD, Continued) <br />Attorney Barrett pointed out that Mr. Pekarik could petition the City to change the Ordinances; <br />however, this evening was an appeal of what was happening to his property under current codes. <br />He reminded the resident that this was an enforcement issue. <br />Pekarik stated that he would like to present new options for the Code. While he acknowledged that <br />some of the items were beginning to pile up on his property and needed to be cleaned up, he <br />wished to keep some of the pieces that he viewed as valuable. He stated that he had complied with <br />1 S of 19 violations and wished to address the remaining ones, noting that he did obtain a title for <br />the boat on his property, and would be licensing the remaining car, and attempting to sell the car <br />parts. <br />Mayor Peterson pointed out that even with current tabs, the vehicle must be operable. <br />Curtis stated that the suburban parts must be stored off site, though an extension could be granted <br />for die parts for sale. <br />Pekarik stated that he would try to sell the parts within the next 90 days. <br />San severe stated that he felt the city was being extremely flexible, allowing Pekarik an additional <br />90 days to remove the remaining items. <br />Attorney Barrett stated that a resolution could be drafted confirming the recommendation of staff <br />that the property be brought up to code within 90 days. <br />Pekarik asked if he could be allowed to keep his items until he petitioned staff hr a change to the <br />Code. <br />Barrett stated diat it is die law diat the items in violation must be removed under current code. <br />Mayor Peterson moved. VOTE: Ayes 4, <br />Nays 0. <br />MAYOR/CITY COUNCIL REPORT <br />Sansevere suggested the Council give some thought to auditor Malloy’s comments with regard to <br />golf courses and consider adding revenue generating activities such as offering kids classes. With <br />regard to the letter received from Champion Auto, Sansevere felt the City should allow the <br />property owners within Navarre to take some action to improve the area. <br />PAGE 7 of 9
