M1 )11 <br />'.ii.’ iii • iO <br />MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH <br />Section of Drinking Water Protection <br />Sanitary Survey Findings <br />System Name: Orono <br />PWSID: 1270041 <br />System Contact; Scott Oberaigner <br />Survey Date; 03/1 S/2005 <br />Surveyor: 1^^ Bradlict^ <br />Surveyor Signature: <br />The findings below identify sanitary risks that may impact water quality, inform the water supply owner of <br />applicable responsibilities, and/or provide guidance related to water system operation and maintenance. <br />Water Source <br />All submersible wellheads should be physically protected against accidental damage from vehicles <br />by installing at least three protective post, or other protective barricades, around the well. <br />All well casings should be vented and properly screened. See Figure 1 <br />iPumpa/Pump Facilities and Controls <br />The sealing material for Well #1 between the well casing and cement slab should be replaced to <br />provide a watertight seal. See Figure 2. <br />Traatmont <br />All chemical storage containers should be clearly marked and properly labelled. <br />The brine storage tank is in disrepair and should be repaired immediately to prevent contamination <br />of the water supply. See Figures 3 and 4. <br />Watar Storage <br />North Tower will be rehabilitated August 2005. <br />Platrlbution <br />A free chlorine residual of at least 0.2 to 0.5 milligrams per liter should be maintained on ail points of <br />the distribution system. <br />Monttorlng/Wapoftlng Data Verification <br />Static water levels and drawdowns should be taken at least monthly and permanently recorded. <br />Watar Syatam Managamant/Oparatlon <br />No deficiencies observed. <br />pparator Compliance with State Raquiramanta <br />The opportunity for additional training in water supply work should be made available to the <br />operator(s). Attendance at the annual watenA^orks operators seminar, held in the area, is a valuable <br />experience for anyone engaged in this field. <br />her Comiwanta or Findings <br />Security fences have been installed around both water treatment plants.
