Draft Council Minutes <br />Application Summary: <br />The applicants are requesting a number of variances in order to construct a 20’ x 22’ detached garage <br />on their property to replace a one-stall tuck-under garage which will be converted to living space. The <br />following variances are requested: <br />1. A rear yard setback variance for a 11.5’ rear setback where 15* is required; and <br />2. A hardcover variance for 45% within the 0-75’ zone; and <br />3. A structural coverage variance for 30.3% or 1,711 s.f. structure where 1,500 s.f.(= 26.6%) is <br />normally allowed and 23% currently exists; and <br />4. A principal building setback to allow a 5’ setback between the garage and the home where a 10’ <br />setback is normally required; and <br />5. A lake setback variance to construct a detached garage within 75* of the lake; 'he applicants’ entire <br />property is within 75’ of the lake. <br />Planning Commission Recommendation <br />On April 18, Planning Commission voted 6-1 on a motion to deny the structural coverage variance <br />with Ute recommendation that the 1,500 s.f. structural coverage maximum be met with a home <br />addition located no nearer the lake than the current structure. <br />Council Action on May 9'^ <br />A 20’ deep x 22’ wide detached garage was approved at the May 9''* Council meeting. A resolution <br />has been drafted to reflect that decision.
