MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, February 14,2005 <br />7:00 o’clock p.m. <br />(1^04-3052 Eric Vogstrom, Continued) <br />I’ctcrson inquired whether Council Member Sanscverc would like the op|K»rtunity to vote on the motion, <br />Sansevere stated in his view since he was not involved in the discussion at the last Council meeting and <br />the majority of tonight’s discussion, that it would not be fair to the applicant or to the rest of the Council <br />for him to vote on this issue at this time. <br />I'ctcrson inquired whether this application could be reheard at the Council’s next meeting in order to give <br />Council Member Sansevere an opiwrtunity to vote on any motion. <br />Barrett stated that is one option. <br />Peterson moved, Murphy seconded, to table the application. <br />Barrett recommended that the failed motion be withdrawn and that a motion tabling the application be <br />made. <br />Murphy moved, Peterson seconded, to reconsider the motion adopting the approval resolution <br />for Application D04-3052 at their next Council meeting scheduled for February' 28,2005. <br />VOTE: Aves 4, Navs 0; Sansevere Abstained. <br />Peterson moved, Murphy seconded, to table Application 804-3052, to the February 28,2005 City <br />Council meeting. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />5. 805-3072 ORO.NO SCHOOL.S, 685 OLD CRYSTAL BAY ROAD >ORTU - VARI A.NC E <br />AND CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br />John Oslund, Neal l,.aw'son, and Karen Orcutt, Orono Schools, were present. <br />Curtis stated the Orono Public School District is requesting a variance and conditional use permit in order <br />to replace the existing campus monument sign with a new monument sign, fhe applicant is proposing a <br />9’ 2” tall X I r wide monument sign with 56 .square feet ol sign face, including a .tO square foot static <br />electronic readerboard. The projxised sign is to be located at the northwest comer of the intersection of <br />Old Crystal Bay Road and Highway 12 on school district property. <br />The Planning Commission at their January 18. 2005 meeting voted 5-1 on a motion to recommend <br />approval of the sign si/e variance and conditional use permit for a new monument sign with the <br />stipulation that the proposed 1 ’ x H’ panel to be used as a “sponsor panel" not be permitted. Curtis noted <br />Commi.ssioner Bremer voted against the motion stating that she supported the variance and conditional <br />use pennit but would have sup|Hirted the s|H>nsor panel. <br />PAGE 7 <br />1
