The property is located at 1385
Orono I.ane, with shoreline on two sides of the lot. (iimdlach noted a hardcover variance is ic(|iiired to
permit 10.79 percent hardcover within the 0-75’ lake .setback zone when 0 percent is allowed and 10.79
))cicent ciiricnlly exists. The applicants have propo.scd removal of 100 .srpiare feet of driveway within the
0-75’ zone to offset the proposed deck.
Staff found the proposal reasonable as the applicant is not proposing to incrca.se the total amount of
hrirrlcover within the 0-75’ setback zone and the liardships found under the 2001 liardcover variance
remain unchanged.
Tlie Planning Commission had a tie vote of 3-3 on a motion to deny the request. Tlte Commissioners
who voted to deny the variances felt that approval of a tiadc of rion-.stnrctural hardcover for stnictur;il
haulcovcn would not be consistent with past hardcover variances. The ('oimnissioncrs in favor of the
request felt that becaii.su the ileck would be wrought iron in older to siippoil the AC niechanical
equipment undeineatli, l emoval of iJie iion-structuml hardcover was a better end result in terms of storm
water infiltriition on the lot.
Sansevrre moved, Peterson seconded, to direct Staff to draft an approval rc.<tolutioii for
Applientioii 1105-.3079, 1.385 Orono Lane.
PAGE 14
