ITie new monument sign with static readerboard shoulil reduce oi <br />eliminate the need for temporary signage. <br />The City Council has considered this application including the findings <br />and recommendation of the IManning Commission, reports by City staff, <br />comments by the applicant and the public, and the effect of the proposed <br />variance on the health, safety and welfare of the community. <br />The City Council finds that the conditions existing on this property are <br />peculiar to it and do not apply generally to other property in this zoning <br />district; that granting the variance would not advensely affect traffic <br />conditions, light, air nor pose a fire hazard or other danger to neighboring <br />property; would not merely serve as a convenience to the applicant, but is <br />necessary to alleviate a demonstrable hardship or difficulty; is necessary to <br />pre.serve a substantial pro|H,*rty right of the applicant; and would be in <br />keeping with the spirit and intent of the Zoning Code and Comprehensive <br />IMan of the City. <br />CONCl.llSIONS, ORDF.R AND CONDI I IONS <br />Ma.sed upon one or more of the afnive findings, the Orono City Council hereby <br />grants a variance to Orono Municipal Zoning Code Section 78-l467(l)(c) to allow a 56 <br />s.f sign where a maximum 12 s.f sign is normally allowed and a conditional ti.se permit <br />for a new campus monument sign with static electronic readcrlioaid to be constructed lor <br />the Orono I’lihlic School an institutional u.se allowed eonditionally within the RR-ID <br />Residential Zoning l)i.strict, subject to the following conditions: <br />I.
