That <br />variance limited them to the pre-existing percentage/square footage of <br />hardcover in the 250-500' setback zone. Because of this, applicants <br />were not able to do quite as extensive an addition as they wished. <br />During the discussions with Planning Commission and Council, the <br />question came up as to whether additional land could be purchased to <br />increase the size of the property. At the time of the variance <br />application, that was not feasible, but they now have arrangec with <br />the adjacent property owner tc acquire additional land. <br />The additional acreage would presumably accomplish two goals of <br />the applicants: . . <br />1. Place the entire detached garage within their property <br />boundaries, creating a 10' setback for that garage from the <br />lot line while leaving a 10' setback from the lot line to <br />the neighbor's garage. <br />Increase the area of their 250-500' zone such that they can <br />construct their entire proposed additions without exceeding <br />the pre-existing hardcover percentage. <br />2.
