The skating rink, buoyed swim zone, rain gardens, bituminous surfacing in the <br />parking lot, and tree replacement plan, as well as an increase in the amount of <br />(attached) picnic tables, canoe racking, and seating, are all desired/approved of <br />ii. If gravel parking remains, provide better drainage for the area <br />iii. Signage must be for environmental interpretation in addition to directional for area <br />connecting trails <br />c. Questions: <br />i. What liabilities are involved with the swim platform? <br />ii. How will the warming house/restroom/small picnic building be protected and <br />maintained? <br />iii. What liabilities are involved with a small dock at the beach and has this changed <br />since the issues with the previous dock arose? <br />2. Second Comment Card <br />a. Location: Orono <br />b. Comments: <br />i. Summit Park’s current condition does not elevate it to the level of safety and <br />enjoyability of Orono’s other parks <br />ii. Fully in support of steps to increase use of the park and to increase people’s <br />enjoyment of the park <br />iii. Safety and accessibility are priorities <br />iv. LLRC <br />1. Location: Long Lake <br />b. Comments: <br />i. The master plan provided an improvement of the existing property, yet still retains <br />its natural beauty <br />ii. It’s a very approachable and user-friendly park but adding additional amenities will <br />make it an even more desirable destination for families – great solution!
