Includes computer data base <br />searching costs and interface with libraries at other institutions. <br />Category 3: <br />ENCOURAGING SCIENTIFIC <br />TEAMWORK Total: $1.150.000 <br />Summer study fellowships <br />An important element in establishing an ongoing scientific summer <br />study program is to provide tuition, travel, per diem, and supplies for <br />summer graduate students attending the Gray Freshwater Biological <br />Institute. Total: $158,000 <br />Visiting scientists <br />To attract renowned scientists as visitors both on a two-year rotating <br />basis and as faculty for the scientific summer study program Total* <br />$159.1 -----I III <br />Internships <br />The new ideas, fresh outlooks, and varied backgrounds of recent Ph.D. <br />graduates are needed to enhance and complement research programs. <br />Sufficient work space is provided in each of the 18 laboratories at the <br />Institute to accommodate a total of 50 interns, for varying periods of <br />time on a rotating basis. Total: $833,000 <br />Category 4: <br />SUPPLYING SPACE TO <br />WORK AND LIVE Total: $2,000,000 <br />To have a comprehensive scientific summer study program, and to <br />accommodate visiting scientists and interns, it is necessary to have <br />adequate space to work and live. The location of the Institute and <br />available facilities restrict the potential of these programs.
