ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING HELD JUNE 18, 1990 <br />ZONING FILE #1546-PROCHNOW CONTINUED <br />It was moved by Cohen, seconded by Hanson, to recommend <br />approval to renew the hardcover variance per the conditions set <br />forth in Resolution #1991. Motion, Ayes~6, Nays~0. Motion <br />carried. <br />#1547 METROPOLITAN WASTE CONTROL COMMISSION <br />INTERSECTION OF WEST FERWDALE ROAD t SHORELINE DRIVE <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br />PUBLIC HEARING 9:09 P.M. TO 9:10 P.M. <br />The Affidavit of Publication and Certificate of Mailing were <br />duly noted. <br />A representative for the Metropolitan V7aste Control <br />Coitunission was present. <br />There were no comments from the public regarding this matter <br />and the Public Hearing was closed. <br />It was moved Cohen, seconded by Moos, to recommend approval <br />of the Conditional Use Permit required for construction of an <br />underground vault. Motion, Ayes-6, Nays-0. Motion carried. <br />#1548 JULIA S. JENSEN <br />2700 ETHEL AVENUE <br />VARIANCES <br />PUBLIC HEARING 9:10 P.M. TO 9:14 P.M <br />The Affidavit of Publication and Certificate of Mailing were <br />duly noted. <br />Mrs. Jensen was present. <br />Gaffron explained the apfciicant's proposal (see Gaffron’s <br />memo dated June 13, 1990). <br />Kelley asked Gaffron what the ramifications of vacating the <br />alley v/ould be. <br />Gaffron believed that a water line exists within the alley <br />and therefore the City must maintain a utility easement. <br />One of Mrs. Jensen’s neighbors presented Acknowledgments <br />from several adjacent property owners. The neighbor stated that <br />he and the other neighbors supported I4rs. Jensen's proposal. <br />There v/ere no additional comments from the public and the <br />Public Hearing was closed. <br />Hanson noted that a front yard setback v/ould be required <br />even if the applicant were not proposing the cantilevered design. <br />Hanson suggested addressing the concerns noted by staff regarding <br />height of the structure. <br />- 15 -
