u PRODUCT DESCRIPTION ALLAN BLOCK is a mortarless, stackable, concrete block retaining wail system consisting of three block shapes —standard block, angle block, and corner block. These blocks can be combined to form retaining walls in a wide variety of designs that will accommodate a diversity of soil conditions and structural needs. The beauty of ALLAN BLOCK is not only in its attractive appearance but also in its simple design. ALLAN BLOCKS are comparably lightweight (the standard / - block weighs only 51 pounds—nearly one-half that “^5^ of competitive products), uncomplicated, and ' manageable by semiskilled labor. ALLAN BLOCK ^ is designed to automatically establish the necessary set-back angle and lock the blocks together from one course to the next. There is no need for interlocking pins. - mortar or preservative treatments. Walls are formed simply by placing the first row or course of blocks in a shallow trench, stacking additional courses so that joints between blocks are staggered, and backfilling with granular fill behind the base course and each additional row. STRONG & DURABLE ALLAN BLOCKS are cured with high strength concrete containing Portland cement (3,000 p.s.l. compressive crushing strength) to yield blocks and retaining walls that weather the harshest of natural elements. The front lip, while establilshing the automatic set-back, resists over 3.500 pounds of shear force per block.
