I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS APPROVED WITHOUT JUMPING <br />THROUGH THE HOOPS. I REALIZE THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME MAJOR <br />CONCERNS ABOUT HARDCOVER AREAS AROUND THE LAKE AND I TOO AM CON­ <br />CERNED ABOUT RUNOFF. QUITE HONESTLY, THE MAIN REASON I BUILT <br />THIS DECK IN QUESTION, WAS BECAUSE THE LAND AROUND MY FOUNDATION <br />WAS ACTUALLY ERODING AWAY. I REALLY GOT GONCERNED AFTER THE HUGE <br />RAIN TOOK OUT THE FRONT ROAD AND HAD VISIONS OF MY FOUNDATION <br />DOING THE SAME AS THERE WAS A RIVER FLOWING AROUND MYFOUNDATION. <br />WHEN I DID MY ADDITION, I TOOK OUT A CONCRETE DECK THAT WAS <br />THERE IN THE SAME PLACE I PUT UP THE WOOD DECK. OBVIOUSLY, A <br />WOOD SLAT DECK IS BETTER THAN A CONCRETE SLAB AS FAR AS WATER <br />FLOW IS CONCERNED. THERE WASN'T ANY PROBLEM WITH ME REPLACING <br />THE FRONT DECK (CONCRETE) WITH WOOD WHEN I GOT D^''E WITH MY <br />ADDITION SO I ASSUMED THE SAME COULD BE DONE ON fHE SIDE. I KNOW <br />I SLOWED THE RUNOFF FROM MY ROOF CONSIDERABLY. THERE ISN'T ANY <br />PLASTIC UNDER THE DECK EITHER. I AM STILL CONCERNED WITH THE <br />ADDITIONAL RUNOFF FROM THE BACK ROAD AREA. WITH THE RAINS OF <br />THE LAST FEW DAYS, I HAVE MAJOR EROSION RIVERS GOING THRU MY <br />SOIL RIGHT NOW. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE IN MY BACK YARD, BUT <br />QUITE HONESTLY, I DON’T DARE DO ANY LANDSCAPING FOR FEAR OF HARD­ <br />COVER PROBLEMS. NOT ONLY IS THE LAND ERODING, BUT MY TREE ROOTS <br />ARE BECOMING MORE AND MORE PROMINENT. WHEN I DID MY ADDITION, <br />I TOOK UP ALL THE CONCRETE SLAB WORK THAT WAS BACK THERE WITH <br />THE IDEA OF REPLACING WITH SOME WOOD LOW LEVEL DECKS. I HAVE <br />NOT DONE THAT YET BUT LIKE THE O.K. TO PROCEED WITH THOSE IDEAS. <br />I UNDERSTAND YOUR POSITION WITH HAVING TO DO EVERYTHING BY THE <br />BOOK, BUT PLEASE BE SENSITIVE TO MY NEEDS OF DOING WHAT I HAVE <br />TO DO TO PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY MY PROPERTY. I BELIEVE I AM AND <br />HAVE BEEN IN THE PAST SENSITIVE TO YOUR NEEDS (CITY OF ORONO). <br />I REALIZE THAT THERE IS SOME CONCERN WITH THE FACT THAT I HAVE <br />TWO HOUSES HERE, BUT, I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF DOING ANY RENTING <br />NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. IN THE PAST I HAVE WORKED WITH THE CITY <br />WHEN THE SEWER WAS GOING IN. YOU NEEDED AN EASEMENT ON THE SAILORS <br />WORLD PROPERTY AT THE LAST MINUTE AND WE GAVE YOU THAT EASEMENT <br />IN GOOD FAITH SO YOUR PROJECT COULD GO ON AS SCHEDULE. WE WERE <br />SUPPOSE TO GET ON APPRAISAL ON THE PIECE OF PROPERTY BY YOUR <br />APPRAISER AND GET PAYMENT FOR THAT PERMANENT EASEMENT. WE STILL <br />HAVEN'T RECIEVED ANY PAYMENT, SO I GUESS WE GAVE YOU THE PROPERTY. <br />AND I THINK WE WERE PRETTY PATIENT WITH THE FRONT ROAD INCIDENT. <br />I'M SURE YOU MIGHT TAKE ISSUE WITH THAT BUT TO WAIT TWO YEARS <br />FOR A‘PROJECT THAT TOOK THE CONTRACTOR TWO DAYS TO DO, IS BEING <br />PRETTY PATIENT. I HAVE GOTTEN PLENTY OF COOPERATION WITH YOU <br />IN THE PAST, SO DON’T GET ME WRONG THAT I DON'T ENJOY LIVING <br />IN THE CITY OF ORONO AND WORKING WITH THE CITY. ALL I WANT TO <br />DO, IS GET MY PROPERTY UP TO DATE, SO PLEASE WORK WITH ME.
