To authorize staff to solicit proposals for Septic system plan review and inspections. <br /> <br />2. Background. In meeting with MnSpect last month to discuss logistical challenges with the septic <br />review process, staff learned that the septic services they provide are done at a loss. They appeared open <br />to altering this portion of the contract. Their septic review and inspection is done via a third party. <br />Learning this, staff believes it to be in the best interest of the city to retain a separate contract until the <br />Building Official completes the Septic accreditation (about 2 years). <br /> <br />3. Comment. Staff proposes to advertise for septic services, including contacting Hennepin County to <br />understand their program as an option to be explored. <br /> <br />4. Staff Recommendation.
