MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, March 28, 2022 <br />6:00 o’clock p.m. <br />_____________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br />The Orono City Council met on the above-mentioned date with the following members present: Mayor <br />Dennis Walsh, City Council Members Matt Johnson, and Aaron Printup. Council Members Richard <br />Crosby III and Victoria Seals were absent. Representing Staff were City Administrator/Engineer Adam <br />Edwards, and Finance Director Ron Olson. <br /> <br />Mayor Walsh called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />1. APPOINTMENT OF 2022 SEASONAL EMPLOYEES <br />6. PERSONNEL MATTER <br />Printup moved, Johnson seconded, to approve the Consent Agenda as submitted. VOTE: Ayes 3, <br />Nays 0. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Cassandra Ordway, 1145 County Road 6, announced the Long Lake Waters Association is hosting a free <br />community event on Saturday, April 23 at Summit Park including an environmental cleanup walk, <br />aquatic invasive species (AIS) education, an art project, scavenger hunt, and a local chef who will identify <br />edible plants. Ms. Ordway noted that a local company Waterfront Restoration was awarded a grant from <br />Hennepin County for the Ambassador Pilot Program will which monitor the boat launch on Long Lake. A <br />presence will be there on Fridays and Saturdays to educate people on cleaning boats upon entering and <br />exiting the lake and giving AIS information. She shared that Long Lake is also part of an online <br />interactive game to help families understand best practices about water stewardship. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />7. LONG LAKE FIRE DEPARTMENT ANNUAL REPORT <br /> <br />Fire Chief Van Eyll gave a presentation on the 2021 Long Lake Fire Department Annual Report. He <br />shared about recent promotions within the department and one retirement, noting they currently have 45 <br />members and are a young department averaging about 8 years of service. Chief Van Eyll shared 2021 <br />Emergency call activity in Orono of 285 calls and spoke about auto-aid. He also shared about the first unit <br />on-scene time average of 8:59 in Orono with the overall time average at 8:56 and spoke about reducing <br />some of the code calls, especially for fire alarms as 99.9% of fire alarms received are burnt popcorn or
