ABSTRAC
Svoboda Ecological Resources (SER) visited the ab ve referenced property on 10/8/13 to
examine the site for the presence of areas meeting wetla d criteria. The study parcel is located in
the ciry of Orono, MN in Hennepin County (Figisre 1). ne wetland boisndary was delinected at
this site. Two sample transects were established, one each along the northern and southern
boundaries of the wetland area in order to charac rize the soil, vegetation, and existing
hydrology within the wetland-to-upland tYansition zone.
INTRODUCT ON
The subject parcel is approximately 12.05 acres and t e target area is dominated by emergent
herbaceous wetland species. The topography of the s te around the target site consists of a
woodland area sloping down to the northeast into the etland with a small water body to the
east. The surrounding land use is primarily widely spac d single family homes while the parcel
itself is close to Lake Minnetonka. The identified w lands were classified according to the
Cowardin et al., the Circular 39 and the Eggers and Ree classification systems and marked with
pink "Wetland Delineation" pin flags. The Technical D cuments section of this report contains
field data sheets, plant indicator status information, soil survey information, and wetland
definition information.
It should be noted that the present delineation does not i clude consideration of the large wetland
in the southwest corner of the parcel. The scope of the d sired project is only close to the wetland
delineated in this report.
METHOD
The methods used to delineate the subject parcel are as escribed in the 1987 US Army Corps of
Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and the 2010 dwest Regional Supplement ManuaL In
the 1987 Manual, the methods used were described u er the "routine" methods for sites less
than 5 acres. This methodology is followed in order to ssess whether the three parameters of a
wetland are met for areas on the subject parcel. The ee parameters required under normal
circumstances in order to delineate a wetland are describ d in the Technical Documents section.
The Midwest Regional Supplement Wetland Deline tion Manual is also being utilized to
increase the accuracy of our wetland boundaries. This dendum to the original 87 Manual was
created to address the many regional differences that aff ct wetlands and the delineation methods
used throughout the country. The following explanation are passages from that document.
"This Regional Supplement is part of a nation ide effort to address regional
wetland characteristics and improve the accura y and efficiency of wetland-
delineation procedures.
