jv1unicode Page 1 of 2 <br /> Orono, Minnesota, Code of Ordinances >> Title V - PUBLIC PROTECTION >> Chapter 46 -FIRE <br /> PREVENTION AND PROTECTION » ARTICLE II. -FIRE PREVENTION AND FIRE SAFETY <br /> STANDARDS » DIVISION 1. -GENERALLY» <br /> DIVISION 1. - GENERALLY <br /> Sec.46-31.- Definitions. <br /> Sec.46-32.- Enforcement. <br /> Sec.46-33.- Permits and fees. <br /> Sec.46-34.- Required water supply; new construction. <br /> Secs.46-35-46-55.- Reserved. <br /> Sec. 46-31. - Definitions. <br /> The following words,terms and phrases,when used in this article,the fire code or the fire marshal <br /> division alterations and amendments, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where <br /> the context clearly indicates a different meaning: <br /> Building official means the person appointed by the council to administer and enforce the state building <br /> code. <br /> Chief means the chief of the fire department which has contractual jurisdiction in each respective fire <br /> service district, or his authorized representative. <br /> Corporation counsel means the attorney for the city. <br /> Fire marshal means the person appointed by the council to administer and enforce the state fire code <br /> and who operates under the direction of the building official. <br /> Jurisdiction and municipality mean the city as a whole, and also that part of the city corresponding to <br /> each separate fire service district. <br /> (Code 1984,§9.34(3)) <br /> Cross reference—Definitions generally,§1-2 <br /> Sec. 46-32. - Enforcement. <br /> Authority for enforcement of this article is granted to and may be exercised by any or all of the following <br /> persons: <br /> (1) The state fire marshal or his authorized representative. <br /> (2) The chief of each fire department, or his authorized representative,within the fire service district <br /> of the fire department. The fire chief shall retain primary responsibility and authority for <br /> determining response to fire calls and for fire scene command. <br /> (3) The chief of the police department or his officers.The police chief shall be responsible for <br /> coordinating enforcement policy and activities between the respective fire service districts and <br /> between the fire chiefs and the building official. <br /> (4) The building official or his authorized representative.The building official shall be responsible for <br /> coordinating enforcement of the fire code with enforcement of the state building code and <br /> chapter 78 of this Code. <br /> (Code 1984. §9.34(4)) <br /> Sec. 46-33. - Permits and fees. <br /> (a) Wherever the fire code or this article requires a permit, applications for such permit shall be made to the <br /> building official with all information required, and payment of a permit application fee as fixed and <br /> determined by resolution.Application fees shall be nonrefundable. <br /> (b) <br /> http://library.municode.com/print.aspx?clientlD=13 094&HTMRequest=http%3 a%2f%2fli... 10/5/2011 <br />
