<br /> <br /> <br />11 <br />INVESTIGATIONS SUMMARY <br /> <br />Robbery <br />Victim met a party in Golden Valley where he sold his vehicle. The victim got a ride back to <br />his residence in Spring Park, where the male party pulled a gun and took the money that the <br />victim received for selling his vehicle. Through investigations, Orono Police were able to <br />identify the male party. The case is pending disposition. <br />Criminal Vehicular Homicide <br />A single vehicle crash in which the driver was impaired and driving at a high rate of speed, <br />took the lives of two young men, ages 20 and 24 years old. The 51-year-old driver sustained <br />critical injuries and was later arrested and booked on charges of criminal vehicular homicide <br />into the Hennepin County Jail. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office issued a formal <br />complaint and added 3rd degree murder changes as well. The case is set for trial. <br />Burglary (Occupied Dwelling) <br />Suspects used force and entered an occupied residential home where they took valuables <br />and then gained access to the garage and stole the homeowner’s two vehicles. The <br />homeowners and their children were sleeping during the incident. Orono PD investigators, <br />along with other metro area law enforcement agencies were able to identify the suspects. <br />They were charged in this case, as well as other cases in the metro. One suspect who was a <br />juvenile, but tried as an adult, received an 88 month sentence and was ordered to pay <br />restitution to the multiple victims. <br />Arson <br />Orono police responded to a call of a mental health issue. It was reported that an individual <br />had used gas and candles, setting the home on fire. They arrived and found two individuals <br />in the driveway. The interior of the house was checked by officers and no one else was found <br />inside. A small dog was still inside, but unfortunately was not located. The two individuals <br />were transported for non-life threatening injuries. The case was submitted to the Hennepin <br />County Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
