H:\ORNO\2022 New Projects\Fee Estimate - CSAH 19 Watermain Replacement .docx January 18, 2022 City of Orono Attn: Adam Edwards PO Box 66 Orono, MN 55323 RE: CSAH 19 Watermain Replacement – Design and Bidding Services Dear Adam: As requested, we have prepared a scope of services and design fee estimate for the proposed 2022 CSAH 19 Watermain Replacement Project . It is our understanding that the scope of the project will include the replacement of watermain along CSAH 19 south of CSAH 15 in two segments (CSAH 15 to Kelly and Kelly to W. Lafayette. Proposed Scope of Engineering Services To assist the city with this improvement project, Bolton & Menk proposes the following scope of services: Topographic Survey – We will document existing conditions and location of the watermain as necessary to construct the proposed improvements. Staff Design Meetings – Our team will work with City staff to develop the scope of the project and to get input on design details. The goal of these meetings is to ensure that the project is designed consistent with City standards and that the City’s maintenance practices and operations are considered throughout the design process. Detailed Design and Bidding – Once the final scope of the project is determined, Bolton & Menk will prepare detailed plans and specifications and obtain all necessary permits. This work will include coordination with private property own ers as needed. Upon authorization, the project will be advertised for competitive bids. Bolton & Menk will administer the bidding process and will ultimately make a recommendation to the City Council about awarding the project. Fee Estimate Based on the scope of services described above, we propose a not -to -exceed fee of $59,500 to be billed on an hourly basis. Once the Construction Contract is awarded, Bolton & Menk will prepare a separate scope and fee estimate for construction phase services.
