Purpose: To allocate the remaining Coronavirus Relief Fund provided by the CARES Act to <br />Police wages. <br /> <br />Background: The Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) was established as part of the CARES Act to <br />provide payment to State, Local and Tribal governments to help navigate the impact of the <br />COVID-19 outbreak. The City received $610,407 for the CRF in July of 2020. The payments <br />from the Coronavirus Relief Fund can only be used to cover expenses incurred between March 1, <br />2020 to December 30, 2020. On October 22, 2020, MMB updated the guidance that all unspent <br />fund as of November 15, 2020 must be returned to the Hennepin County. <br /> <br />Staff is recommending the remaining funds of approximately $195,000 be allocated to Police <br />wages. Police officers are essential public safety positions whose duties are substantially <br />dedicated to mitigating and responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency. <br /> <br />2. Staff Recommendation: Approve the allocation of the remaining $195,000 of Coronavirus <br />Relief Fund provided by the CARES Act to Police wages. <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve the allocation of the remaining CARES Act grant to Police wages. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Exhibits <br />A.
