Article VIII of the Orono City Code is amended by adding and striking text as 249 <br />follows: 250 <br /> ARTICLE VIII. - ADMINISTRATIVE OFFENSES AND PENALTIES 251 <br />DIVISION 1. - IN GENERAL 252 <br />Sec. 66-250. - Administrative offenses. 253 <br />The Orono City Council has determined to enforce certain offenses within the City of 254 <br />Orono as administrative offenses. Those offenses to be enforced as administrative offenses shall 255 <br />be determined by resolution of the city council as recommended by the chief of police. These 256 <br />administrative penalty procedures in this section are intended to provide the public and the city 257 <br />with an informal, cost effective, and expeditious alternative to traditional criminal charges for 258 <br />violations of certain provisions of this code. The procedures are intended to be voluntary on the 259 <br />part of those who have been charged with those offenses. 260 <br />(Ord. No. 121 3rd series, § 1, 12-9-2013) 261 <br />Sec. 66-251. - Violation/penalty. 262 <br />Any person violating one of the administrative offenses within the City of Orono shall be 263 <br />subject to the scheduled administrative penalty. The city council shall determine the 264 <br />administrative penalties and both the administrative offenses and the penalty amount may be 265 <br />amended, from time to time, by resolution of the city council. 266 <br />(Ord. No. 121 3rd series, § 1, 12-9-2013) 267 <br />Sec. 66-252. - Enforcement. 268 <br />Any member of the police department or any other person employed by the city with 269 <br />authority to enforce the city Code may issue administrative violations under this article. 270 <br />Notice shall be given to the violator setting forth the nature of the offenses, the date, time of 271 <br />the violation, the name of the official issuing the citation and the amount of the scheduled 272 <br />penalty. 273
