When I began to work at the Magic Mirror Salon it was located within the Building
(3384 Shoreline), and through my work there, I became familiar with the salon business
and its history In 1978 I acquired the salon business from Beatrice Ames. At the time
of my purchase, I was aware that the salon had been operating at that location since
approximately 1965 One of the stylists that continues to work for my business (Lana
Putt) had worked at the Magic Mirror salon since 1965 at its leased location in the
Building. From Approximately 1965 through 2005, the salon business was operated
continuously at its leased location in the Building. Because of my personal involvement
with the salon business, i became familiar with the salon business and the other
businesses that were located in the Building. The salon normally functioned with five or
more stations for cutting and styling hair. The salon occupied one half of the space that
is now being remodel for use as a restaurant (approximately one fifth of the Building's
main floor), The hair salon continuously occupied that space within the building from at
least 1965 until I moved the business to a different location in 2005.
From and after 1971, I was aware of the other businesses that operated within the
Building Immediately west of the salon's location in the Building, there was a space
occupied by the `Magic Cleaners', a dry cleaning business known to me to be owned
and operated by Dick McCurdy (3386 Shoreline). The Magic Cleaners had a retail
location on the main floor and did all of it's cleaning of laundry in the basement level of
the building. Based on my knowledge and recollection, the Magic Cleaners occupied
approximately the other half of the space now being remodeled for use as a restaurant
Dick McCurdy operated the Magic Cleaners until he sold the business to Donald and
Dana McCarvilie in about 1990 It is my belief that the Magic Cleaners operated
continuously at 3386 Shoreline Drive from 1968 through 1973.
From and after 1971, the space within the Building and immediately west of the salon's
location, there was a space occupied by "'Axel and Bob's Meat Market' a retail butcher
