Orono City Council <br />Work Session Minutes <br />Monday, October 25, 2021 <br />Council Chambers <br />5:00 p.m. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Walsh, Council Members Richard F. Crosby II, and Matt Johnson. <br />Staff members present were City Administrator/Engineer Adam Edwards, Community <br />Development Director Jeremy Barnhart, Finance Director Ron Olson, Parks and Golf Courses <br />Superintendent Josh Lemons, Police Chief Correy Farniok and City Clerk Anna Carlson. <br /> <br />1. CIP Discussions <br />City Administrator Adam Edwards introduced the CIP discussion. He noted that he <br />asked each department to briefly discuss their budget plans for the CIP. <br />A. Police Department <br />Police Chief Correy Farniok discussed the Police department’s plans for capital <br />improvements. He noted the City plans to procure 4 patrol vehicles, patrol rifles <br />2022. <br />B. Parks <br />Parks and Golf Course Superintendent Josh Lemons began the presentation of the CIP <br />for Parks. <br /> <br />Edwards added that Parks Commission has given guidance for some items reflected <br />in the CIP draft. <br /> <br />City Council Member Victoria Seals asked what the miscellaneous fund was. <br /> <br />Edwards denoted those funds were identified last year and are set aside for the <br />drainage project. <br /> <br />Lemons discussed aspirations for improvements to Crystal Bay playground <br />equipment. Lemons also mentioned briefly the plans for Golf Course Drainage and <br />uniform lake access markers to clear ambiguity on lake access points for the public. <br /> <br />Edwards also mentioned the Parks Commission has aspirations to do some larger <br />improvements over time, the ones shown tonight are the first phase of those <br />improvements. He proposes that staff and Council discuss the active lake access <br />points in 2022. <br /> <br />City Council member Matt Johnson agreed it would be nice to standardize the City’s <br />markers uniformly. <br /> <br />Lemons finished the discussion by noting the tee mower will be up for replacement <br />for 2022. <br /> <br />C. Information Technology (IT) <br />Edwards presented the Information Technology CIP. He noted in 2022 the city plans <br />to replace two of the switches/routers. They usually last about 5 years for security.
