The purpose of this action item is to gain Council approval for the 2021 lighting installation <br />at Casco Point Skating Rink <br /> <br />2. Background. The City of Orono is partnering with the Orono Youth Hockey Association to create a <br />dedicated hockey rink on a portion of the Casco Point Skating Rink. The hockey association will be <br />providing the boards to create a 50’x100’ rink, as well as maintenance on the skating rink. Lighting was <br />requested for the entire skating rink to extend its use after dark. <br /> <br />3. Project Scope. Six 25’ utility poles will be installed with LED lighting attached. The lights will extend <br />beyond the hockey boards and will provide light to the entire skating rink <br /> <br />4. Cost. Parks received quotes from two contractors for installation. A summary of the quotes received <br />are listed in the table below. The lowest quote was from Holton Electric at $20,215. Frost conditions <br />may increase the quote by an estimated $5000. <br /> <br />Contractor Total Quote <br />Holton Electric $20,215.00 <br />Gephart Electric $34,770.00 <br /> <br />5. Funding. The project will be funded from the park dedication funds. Estimated EOY 2021 balance <br />for the fund is $91,881. <br /> <br />6. Staff Recommendation.
