Council Work Session <br />Monday, August 9, 2021 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />Orono Council Chambers, <br />2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Walsh, Council Members Aaron Printup, Matt Johnson and Richard F. <br />Crosby II. Staff members present were City Administrator/Engineer/Public Works Director Adam <br />Edwards, Finance Director Ron Olson, Public Works Superintendent DJ Goman and Community <br />Development Director Jeremy Barnhart. <br /> <br />Meeting started: 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />1. Budget Discussion - Revenue <br />Finance Director Ron Olson presented the 2022 Revenue budget to the City Council. He <br />explained some increases which included the addition of Spring Park Public Works <br />agreement, additional grant proceeds related to Toward Zero Deaths grant program, and <br />the contracted increases the city will see from the police service contracts. Olson noted <br />the property tax levy is a major revenue source for the General Fund and that the General <br />Fund tax levy is increasing by approximately 5.1%. This is the amount needed to balance <br />the draft expenditure budget.
