Printup" <aprintup@ci.orono.mn.us>, <br />Victoria Seals <vseals@ci.orono.mn.us>, Richard Crosby <br /><rcrosby@ci.orono.mn.us>, Matt Johnson <mjohnson@ci.orono.mn.us> <br />Subject: Proposed rezoning of 2060 Wayzata Blvd <br />Good evening. <br />My name is Richard Apple and I am a resident of Sugar Woods, the neighborhood <br />adjacent to the lot on which CBS MN Properties has requested a zoning change to <br />accommodate a proposed three-story apartment building. <br />While we are not yet privy to the details of the proposal (my understanding is that <br />the deadline for comments is now, before the details are made available), I can <br />say without hesitation that no three-story apartment building should be considered <br />for that site and the proposal should be rejected without hesitation. <br />As you know, there are communities in the Twin Cities who consider growth to <br />be a defining attribute, an attribute that contributes to their "greatness." <br />Plymouth, Maple Grove, and Woodbury are but three examples of communities <br />that take pride in the amount of new development they have fostered. <br />But other communities, Orono among them, have not and should not become a <br />community of their sort. Since its founding, Orono has been defined by large <br />open spaces, modest development, and a more rural character. Those are, in fact, <br />among the most important qualities that drew my family and so many like-minded <br />friends and neighbors to this area decades ago. <br />I understand that reasonable people can disagree on what sort of community is <br />Council <br />Exhibit F <br />LA21-42
