The purpose of this council item is to gain council approval to appoint the new Public <br />Works Streets and Stormwater Supervisor. <br /> <br />2. Background. The Public Works Supervisor (Streets and Stormwater) position replaces the vacancy <br />left by D.J. when he got promoted to Superintendent. At the May 24th meeting the City Council <br />authorized staff to begin the recruiting and replacement process. <br /> <br />3. Recruitment. The selection process for the position involved advertising the position, application <br />screening, and interviews. The selection committee consisted of the Public Works Superintendent, Parks <br />and GC Superintendent, Public Works Supervisor, City Administrator and Community Development <br />Director. <br /> <br />4. Recommended Candidate. The recommended candidate is Mr. Brent Weldon. Brent has been with <br />Hennepin County Public Works for 16 years, the past 10 as a Forman. <br /> <br />5. Recommended Compensation. I recommended that Mr. Weldon be appointed to the position of <br />Public Works Supervisor effective July 27th, 2021. <br /> <br />A. Salary. Starting salary of $35.40 /Hr. (Grade 10, Step 5) <br />B. Vacation.
