The purpose of this action item is to gain approval for a transient merchant license for Mark <br />Lazarchic/Renaissance Fireworks Inc. <br /> <br />TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE <br />Applicant: Mark Lazarchic/Renaissance Fireworks Inc. <br />Activity: Sale of Consumer Fireworks <br />Location: 3435 Shoreline Drive <br />Date: June 26 through July 5, 2021 <br />Time: 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Background. Mr. Lazarchich has submitted an application for a transient merchant license to sell <br />fireworks from a tent located in the parking lot at 3435 Shoreline Drive. Orono's City code currently <br />allows a transient merchant to be licensed initially for 10 days, with the option for the City Council, at its <br />sole discretion, to grant an extension for up to 50 additional days. In addition, the code limits the hours of <br />activity from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Lazarchic has also submitted the attached request for Council <br />approval to allow 7 additional days of activity and an additional 1 hour of evening sales each day. <br /> <br />The transient merchant and sale of consumer fireworks applications have been reviewed by staff and the <br />Long Lake Fire Chief with recommendation for approval of the activity as well as the requested an <br />additional day and additional hours of operation; provided no problems are reported. Council approved a <br />transient merchant license for Renaissance Fireworks in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 for <br />the sale of consumer fireworks for additional days at the same location with the hours of operation from <br />10:00am - 9:00 pm. <br /> <br />3. Recommendation. Staff recommends approval or the transient merchant license as requested. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve the listed license with 1 additional day and with the hours of operation from 10:00 <br />a.m. – 9:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Exhibits <br />A.
