Septic System Design
Additional Information
Property
Address: 730 Gander Rd. Wavzata, MN
Description of Waste Water Treatment System
This site is an existing home with a failed septic system due to soil separation. The existing
tanks will need to be pumped, crushed and abandoned. Two 1250 gallon septic tanks will be
installed for septic capacity. A 1250 gallon tank will be installed to be used as a lift station to the
proposed mound. The proposed mound to be built will consist of a 10x62.5 rockbed with a 1.3
`foot sand lift. A flow measurement device must be installed on the pump tank. There are a
handful of trees in the absorption and mound area that will need to be cut down. These trees
should be cut down as dose to the surface as possible while leaving the stump in the ground.
This new on-site sewage treatment system is designed for a 5 bedroom home, Type 1 system in
accordance with the MPCA Chapter 7080 and local ordinances.
The soils on this site are loamy to clay loam. The periodically saturated soils were located after
going to a depth of 20 inches. This will lead 20 inches of usable soil underneath the mound with
a 1.3 foot sand lift. Therefore providing a 36 inch separation for the treatment of effluent above
the periodically saturated soils.
2-1250 gallon tank will need to be installed along with a 1250 gallon pump tank to lift the
sewage to the treatment area. The power supply and switches must be located outside the
manhole and pumping chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A warning device must also be
installed with audio/visual alerts. The supply line mast have drain back to the pumping chamber.
From the pump tank sewage will be pumped approximately 100 feet to the mound. There will be
3- 2" pipes each 3 feet apart inside the 10' by 62.5' rockbed. The mound will have a total
footprint of 44' by 97' with 8 percent slope underneath it.
All tank manholes should be brought to grade upon completion of tank installation, inspection
ports for the distribution boxes should also be at grade upon completion.
Keep all vehicles and construction equipment off septic area. Rutting and/or compacting the
soil will change the percolation rates and may lead to system failure.
Homeowner to verify all property lines.
Elevations are referenced to Bench Mark on the tar in front of the garage.
Installer to verify all elevations, dimensions, and ensure proper fall to pipes. Pitch pump
chamber outlet to ensure complete drain back to pump chamber.
Establish turf to prevent erosion and freezing.
Ends Septic Service, LLC, 24910 Territorial Road l ph.763-428-4489 or info(o)endeseptic.com 1
