.
11 1 1
An Equi Qpportunitymployer
October 2, 2000
- .,_..
 200
Mr. & Mrs. Kent and Susan Whitworth `'f'
1425 Bay Ridge Road
Orono, MN 55391
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Whitworth:
The purpose of this correspondence is to address the letter and request sent to the Hennepin County
Permit Office on September 28, 2000 from Mr. Matt Laue of Landscaping Plus. The letter was in
response to a meeting that was held between Hennepin County and Mr. Laue regarding the steps and
landing that were constructed on Hennepin County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 15 right-of-way. In
Mr. Laue's letter, he requested that Hennepin County allow him to modify the current landing so that it
would fa1136-inches from the edge of CSAH 15. Currently, the landing falls 18-inches from the edge
of CSAH 15.
Hennepin County personnel visited the site on October 2, 2000 to assess if the proposed 36-inch
setback would be adequate. After taking motorist sightlines and winter snow and ice removal
operations into consideration, Hennepin County requires that a 60-inch setback from the face of curb
of CSAH 15 be maintained. This means that no man-made object may fall within that 60-inch setback.
Hennepin County requires that a Permit Application for Utility Construction be filed with the
Hennepin County Permit Office on or before October 16, 2000. If no application has been made by
that time, Hennepin County will remove the steps and landing and such costs will be directly billed to
the property owner.
In closing, I would like to add that Hennepin County has been and will continue to work this issue out
through a permit process so all parties can be accommodated. If you have any further questions, feel
free to call me at 763-745-7601.
Sincerely, /
` 1
 ____
Paul A.
