Community Development and Growth <br /> <br />In 2018, the City of Medina completed their 2040 Comprehensive Plan that encompasses <br />many different aspects of the City. The section on residential development indicates there <br />is a potential capacity of 1,017 additional residential units through 2040. This average s to <br />approximately 50 new residential units per year which coincides with the average number <br />of new home building permits of approximately 40 per year. The Metropolitan Council <br />estimates the growth in the City of Medina will be at half the rate of growth f rom 2000 – <br />2020. The following chart illustrates the past population growth and contains the <br />projections through 2040. <br />
