7. Investigates miscellaneous building, mechanical and plumbing complaints. <br /> <br />8. Assists with coordination of inspections with other City personnel. <br /> <br />9. Remains familiar with new materials, equipment, methods of construction and changes in the <br />Code. <br /> <br />9.10. Keeps Building Official informed as to current developments. Makes observations and <br />recommendations when needed. <br /> <br />10.11. Attends plan review, pre-construction meetings and staff meetings, as directed. <br /> <br />11.12. Other duties as required. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br />1. Knowledge of the practices, procedures, equipment and materials used in municipal building <br />inspection. <br /> <br />2. Thorough knowledge of the state building code and the ability to interpret this code. <br /> <br />3. Knowledge of soils, building construction, building design, blueprint reading, and building <br />code. <br /> <br />4. Knowledge of mechanical residential construction code. <br /> <br />5. Knowledge of municipal planning and zoning requirements and procedures. <br /> <br />6.5.Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written format with staff, general <br />contractors, and the public. <br /> <br />7.6.Ability to meet physical requirements of conduction inspections. <br /> <br />8.7.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with City staff and the public. <br /> <br />9.8.Working familiarity with computer hardware and software related to inspections. <br /> <br /> <br />Minimum Requirements Education and Experience <br />1. High school degree and combination of experience equivalent to, or graduation from, a <br />vocational college, with emphasis on building technology, plan reading, code enforcement and <br />office procedures. <br /> <br />2. State of Minnesota certification. Comprehensive knowledge of state building code and <br />familiarity with municipal ordinances and enforcement procedures. <br /> <br />3. Have demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working <br />relationships with owners, architects, developers, contractors and the general public. <br /> <br />4.
