This application is regarding variances to construct an addition and deck on the home. <br /> <br />2. MN§15.99 Application Deadline. The application was received on February 5, and considered to <br />be complete on February 24. The 60-Day review period has been extended and now expires on June 24, <br />2021. <br /> <br />Background/ Summary. The applicant is proposing to construct a small addition on the south side of <br />the home, and a deck on the lakeside of the home. The subject property is nonconforming with respect to <br />area, width, hardcover, and setbacks; the entire home is within the 75-foot lake setback. Following the <br />Planning Commission’s direction, the applicant has revised the plans to reduce the addition footprint by <br />one foot as well as reconfigured and reduced the proposed deck footprint by 240 square feet, including the <br />minimal flagstone path. The proposed hardcover is now shown to be 24.9%. <br /> <br />3. Planning Commission Vote and Comment. On March 15, the Planning Commission held a public <br />hearing. Following the public hearing and discussion, the Planning Commission voted 7 to 0 on a motion <br />to deny the requested variances as proposed. Their discussion indicated that there were practical <br />difficulties supporting some level of improvements for the property however not the hardcover in excess <br />of 25%. <br /> <br />4. Public Comment. No written comments were received; no one spoke at the public hearing. <br /> <br />5. Staff Recommendation.
