Parks, Trails, and Open Spaces <br /> <br /> <br />City of Orono Community Management Plan 2020-2040 Part 4E, Page 2 <br />Trails <br /> <br /> The City recognizes that search areas for extensions to the Dakota Rail and the Lake Independence <br />Trails are located, in part, within City of Orono boundaries. The city supports extensions and connections <br />to these features where extensions can be made while being sensitive to environmental features. Map 4A- <br />6 shows the locations of all trails, and planned areas for expansion. <br /> <br />Table 4E-8: Trail Implementation <br />Priorit <br />y <br />Project Description <br />1 East Long <br />Lake Trail <br />The city will implement the master plan developed for the trail <br />along the east end of Long Lake. <br />2 Navarre <br />Dakota Trail <br />Connection <br />The city will actively partner with Hennepin county and Three <br />Rivers park District to complete a trail connection along County <br />Road 19 connecting Navarre to the Dakota Trail <br />3 Lakeview <br />Legacy Park <br />The city will plan and construct a walking trail that connects <br />Lakeview Legacy Park to West Branch Road/County Road 151 <br />along the old Shakopee/Greenfield native American trail. This <br />project should be timed with the 2020 road construction project. <br />4 Wayzata <br />Blvd Trail <br />The City is partnering with the city of Long Lake and Hennepin <br />County to provide a multi modal trail along the north side of <br />Wayzata Blvd from the Luce Line trial to the western Boundary of <br />the Orono School Property. The trail is being included as part of <br />the CSAH 112 Turn back Projects. <br /> 5 Luce Line <br />Dakota Trail <br />connector <br />The city will support an off-street trail that provides access from <br />the Luce Line Trail to the Dakota Trail. <br /> <br />6 Hunter <br />Drive/Fernd <br />ale <br />The city will partner with the Hennepin County to connect the trails <br />in northeast Orono to the Luce Line and Dakota Trails via Hunter <br />Drive and Ferndale Road. <br />7 Lowry <br />Woods <br />The city will plan trail access to the Lowry Woods Park. <br />8 County <br />Road 19 <br />The city will work with other communities along county road 19 <br />to support a trail connecting the Dakota Trail to Navarre south to <br />the Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail <br />Notes: <br />1. The city does not support an on-street trail on County Road 15 due to its close proximity to Dakota <br />trail. <br />2. The city does not support the addition of an off-street trail along Old Long Lake Road due to the <br />nearby access to the Luce Line Trail in several locations. <br />3. The city will assemble a map showing existing right of way easements that could facilitate future <br />trail locations. <br />4. The city is open to input from the community regarding future trail plans. <br />5. The city will explore options for single track mountain bike and fat tire bike trails. <br /> <br />
