Log of Soil Borings taken on March 5, 1999 to evaluate the soils located on the
Thompson property on Old Crystal Bay Road, designated Lot 2, to determine the
depth to the seasonally high water table. Because of the high seasonally water table
the existing system is failing and will require a replacement mound type system.
All boring measurements are in inches unless otherwise noted. The soils are located on
the crown and shoulder slope of a knoll. The parent material is glacial till with loamy
colluvium in the Hamel soils. The soils are typed as being Hamel Loam and Lester Clay
Loam by the USDA soils survey. The primary site is in Hamel soils with some runoff
covering the site. There was no bedrock or water present in the borings.
Boring l see site survey for elevation of boring mottled soils at 20"
0 9 10YR12 topsoil loam blocky friable
9 25 IOYR5i4 clay loam blocky friable
25 60 10YR613 clay loam blocky friable
Boring 42 see site survey for elevation of boring mottled soils at 19"
0 - 7 10YR3i2 topsoil loam blocky friable
7 - 23 IOYR5/4 clay loam blocky friable
23 - 60 10YR6/3 clay blocky friable
Boring 43 see site survey for elevation of boring mottled soils at 28"
0 - 16 10YR3/1 topsoil loam (some from runoff) friable
sub angular blocky
6 25 IOYR4/4 loam blocky friable
25 60 IOYR6/3 clay loam blocky friable
Boring =4 see site survey for elevation of boring mottled soils at 26"
0 - 17 10YR3/l topsoil loam (some from runoff) friable
17 - 28 IOYR4/4 loam blocky friable
28 - 60 10YR6/3 clay loam blocky friable
