Purpose: To authorize the solicitation of Requests for Proposals for Health Insurance. <br /> <br />2. Background: Rising insurance costs have been an ongoing issue for many years. During the <br />2020 budget cycle, the Council directed staff to create an insurance committee in order to explore <br />options for insurance that may result in lower premiums; or at least smaller increases in the future. <br />The committee met with our insurance agent earlier this year. The Council was updated with this <br />information at the at April 27th work session. At that work session the Council requested that staff <br />move ahead with an RFP process for employee health insurance. <br /> <br />At the April 27th Council Meeting, the City Council approved the outsourcing of payroll processing <br />to Paychex. Part of the services approved include serving as the City insurance agent for employee <br />health benefits. The RFP for Health Insurance will be conducted by Paychex. <br /> <br />3.
