Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />Orono City Council <br />Work Session <br />Monday, April 27, 2020 <br />Council Chambers (Held by Electronic Means) <br />5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />AGENDA <br />PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Walsh, Council Members Richard F. Crosby II, Victoria Seals, <br />Aaron Printup and Matt Johnson. Staff members present were City Administrator Dustin <br />Rief, Finance Director Ron Olson, Community Development Director Jeremy Barnhart, <br />Director of Public Works/City Engineer, and City Clerk Anna Carlson. <br /> <br />1. Insurance Committee Update <br />Finance Director Ron Olson stated that staff had met with the Insurance committee <br />and discussed the process the City may need to go through for finding a new <br />insurance carrier. The committee agreed that it is time to do something to save the <br />insurance premiums. Olson also mentioned the effects that would occur if the city <br />left LOGIS and possible concerns that may come after the fact. Olson asked for the <br />input of the Council in regards to searching for a new carrier. <br /> <br />There was discussion of why the City should pursue other carriers. The Council <br />consented that it would be wise to look for other options. <br /> <br />Mayor Dennis Walsh asked if staff thought it is worth the risk to leave LOGIS. <br /> <br />City Administrator Dustin Rief recommends that the City goes out for bid. <br /> <br />Walsh mentioned that guidance from Council is to go out for bid on a carrier. <br /> <br />Council member Aaron printed asked if the City should reach out to other <br />surrounding Cities to let them know Orono is leaving LOGIS and why. <br /> <br />Rief stated he would look into reaching out to surrounding cities letting them know <br />that we are leaving and give them a run-down of why. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2. 2021 Street Maintenance Planning and Engineering <br />City Engineer/Public Works Director Adam Edwards began the presentation of <br />Orono’s 2021 Pavement Management Plan. <br /> <br />Walsh asked the Council to go out and look at the roads to get an idea for which roads <br />need to be added or moved for improvement. <br /> <br />City Engineer/Public Works Director Adam Edwards presented the 2021 Roads plan. <br />He recommended that the levy be increased in 2021 and again in 2022 to fully fund
