SOCIAL HOST ORDINANCE, ORDINANCE NO. 147 (continued) <br /> <br />Walsh stated publishing it in the local newspapers would be the best way. <br /> <br />Cornick indicated he would be against tabling it. <br /> <br />Levang stated she would also be against tabling it. <br /> <br />Mattick stated he has reviewed the draft ordinance and that it is very consistent with what other cities <br />have adopted. <br /> <br />Cornick stated during his career he has responded to hundreds of these juvenile drinking parties and that <br />he never saw an adult cited. Cornick stated he would like it to perhaps be expanded to include other <br />substances at a later date. <br /> <br />Farniok stated that could be addressed if that starts to become an issue. <br /> <br />Cornick stated the true value in the ordinance is not in the prosecution of it but in the fact that it exists. <br /> <br />Loftus noted there was a full article in the Laker and Pioneer in 2013 and 2014 about this exact ordinance. <br />Loftus stated even though it has been a while since those articles were in the newspaper, the issues have <br />been percolating for a while now. <br /> <br />Walsh stated during the work session he had two people text him about it, which made him pause about it <br />a little bit. <br /> <br />Levang moved, Cornick seconded, to adopt ORDINANCE NO. 147, Third Series, an Ordinance <br />Amending the City of Orono Code Adding Section 34-8 Social Host Ordinance. VOTE: Ayes 3, <br />Nays 2, Walsh and Printup Opposed. <br /> <br />Farniok asked if the Council has an effective date for implementation of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Mattick noted it is effective upon publication. <br /> <br />Farniok stated he would like to delay that a little in order to get the information out to the public. <br /> <br />Levang stated she would be willing to work on compiling that information with Police Chief Farniok. <br /> <br />*14.
